Business Continuity
Is your business ready when disaster strikes?
Small business owners invest a tremendous amount of time, money and resources to make their ventures successful, yet, many owners fail to properly plan and prepare for disaster situations. According to the Institute for Business and Home Safety, an estimated 25 percent of businesses do not reopen following a major disaster. You can protect your business by identifying the risks associated with natural and man-made disasters, and by creating a plan for action should a disaster strike. By keeping those plans updated, you can help ensure the survival of your business. ATG can assist you with these plans and offer solutions to keep your business running.
What’s more frightening for your business operations than a natural disaster? Your employees.
In fact, an estimated 58% of downtime is due to human error.
So, if you’ve been putting off implementing data protection because you consider yourself in a safe zone, think again. It is far more likely that Jim in Marketing (you know the one) trips on that essential power cord than Mother Nature comes after your server. Also every office has that one employee who clicks on anything (can you say Sales Reps). To sum it all up, if you have employees, you’d better plan ahead for downtime.
Backup Disaster Recovery (BDR) and Business Continuity
Regardless of the state of your office, whether from employee error, disaster, power, Internet etc., you can continue working with all of your business applications. What is the cost when your business is down, lost wages, lost sales, lost customers?
Our BDR and Business Continuity Solutions are relatively inexpensive and proven technologies. Traditional backup methods such as tape, disk, and strict NAS devices are no longer sufficient. In fact, leading edge business owners are finding them unacceptable. Technological innovations have set a new solution standard: Intelligent Business Continuity, going beyond data protection; delivering automated assurance, continuous protection, secured storage, and instant recovery.
Example of one of our solutions:
An appliance (small box) is installed on your site(s) that make an exact image of your server(s) every few minutes. In the event of a server failure, a virtual server (an exact “up to date” local image) can be spun up in a matter of minutes allowing you to continue on. These images (changes only) are also sent to the cloud site. In the case where your office is closed due to a storm or disaster, virtual images of your server(s) can be spun up in the cloud and employees can work from any location accessing these virtual servers via a secure VPN client.
How did we save one our clients thousands of dollars?
During Hurricane Sandy, one of our clients had their main office in NJ and a sales office in South Carolina. The South Carolina sales office accesses the New Jersey servers remotely. When the NJ office went down during Hurricane Sandy for several days, we were able to bring up their virtual servers in the cloud. This allowed both NJ and South Carolina employees to get up and running within a couple of hours. Our client saved thousands of dollars in potentially lost sales.
